Comparison by Rewordy · Checked 18 September 2026

Rewordy and RewordIt are different Mac apps.

Both use a keyboard shortcut to replace selected text. Rewordy centres on two actions powered by Apple Intelligence on your Mac. RewordIt offers configurable profiles and a choice of local or hosted AI providers.

Choose by setup and control

Rewordy

Choose Refine for messages or AI Prompt for instructions. Select text in a supported editable field and press Option+Space. No AI-provider API key is needed.

Requires macOS 26 or later, Apple silicon, Apple Intelligence, and Accessibility permission. Selected and rewritten text stays on the Mac; license and aggregate usage metadata is sent for access enforcement.

RewordIt

Its website documents custom hotkey/prompt profiles, built-in hosted AI, bring-your-own providers, and Ollama for local processing. It lists macOS 13 or later and Accessibility permission.

Text processing depends on the selected provider. Its Ollama option is local; its built-in AI and external cloud providers require a connection.

A useful test before choosing

  1. Try a short email, a longer paragraph, and an AI instruction in your usual apps.
  2. Check that names, numbers, dates, and meaning survive the rewrite.
  3. Check how each app handles an editor that does not expose the selected text.
  4. Choose how much model configuration and profile customisation you want to manage.

This is a workflow comparison published by Rewordy, not a head-to-head quality benchmark. More configuration is useful when you need it; a smaller set of actions can be useful when you want a repeatable routine.

Trial and ongoing use

Rewordy includes a seven-day trial after the onboarding test. Basic is €5/month or €39/year for 500 rewrites per month; One-time is €49 for 10,000 lifetime rewrites. See plan details.

RewordIt documents a hosted usage-based option and bring-your-own providers. Check its current pricing for the configuration you choose.

Does Rewordy translate text?

Rewordy does not claim translation support. Refine improves existing writing, and AI Prompt clarifies instructions. If translation or custom profiles are central to your workflow, compare the alternatives on those specific requirements.
